Learning, Strategy, and Fun: A Day at OLxD Hangout 2025

On Saturday, April 27th, the OLxD (Organizational Learning and Development) community hosted its first L&D hangout of the year — a well-attended and highly engaging event that brought together over 100 L&D professionals from across industries and sectors at The Zone Park, Gbagada, Lagos.

The objective of the hangout was clear: to foster connection, encourage collaboration, and create a space where learning professionals could reflect, recharge, and engage meaningfully with peers.

From the start, the atmosphere was warm and vibrant. The event opened with casual board games and informal networking as attendees arrived and settled in. This was followed by a welcome address and a series of structured activities designed to facilitate introductions and build relationships in an intentional yet relaxed environment.

One of the key moments of the afternoon was the learning session facilitated by Olasunkanmi Adenuga, Director at Workforce Group. In an insightful and thought-provoking presentation, he emphasized the evolving role of L&D professionals as strategic business partners. His session challenged participants to move beyond designing engaging learning programs and focus on aligning learning interventions with broader business objectives. The conversation was rich, relevant, and served as a timely reminder of the importance of connecting learning to impact.

The event continued with high-energy team games, facilitated networking, refreshments, and a spotlight on the OLxD community’s vision and future plans. The day closed with light-hearted entertainment and content capture for social media, ensuring the memories of the day were preserved and shared.

Above all, the 2025 OLxD L&D Hangout reaffirmed the purpose of the community: to advance the practice of learning and development, to promote excellence, and to build a strong, connected network of professionals committed to shaping the future of work in Africa.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our partners, Workforce Group and Zannoza Entertainment, for their collaboration and support in delivering a memorable event.

We look forward to more opportunities to convene, collaborate, and continue building the L&D profession together. Keep an eye out for future editions.
